Well.... It finally happened....
Ashleigh is the proud recipient of her very first big girl bed!
What a proud day for Mommy!!

I decided a couple weeks back that it was time to move Ashleigh to her big bed.  She stopped sleeping all night in her crib months ago.  She just didn't like it anymore.  I moved her to her playard and that satisfied her greatly.  I actually bought a mattress for it because I hated thinking she was sleeping on a padded board!  She finally started sleeping through the night again!!  What a relief that was!

Well, it finally hit me one day that my daughter was sleeping in a pack and play!!  I decided it was time to put her in her bed.  Grandma (Neal's mom) actually bought this bed for Ashleigh.  She actually bought it long ago!!  It's nice that she bought it because there is a story behind the bed that is so very special to Neal and I.

When Neal and I first found out we were pregnant, , only about 5 or 6 weeks along, we went shopping to check things out.  He saw this bed and wanted to buy it immediately!  He was so cute - it was absolutely unreal.

The only way I could get him away from the bed that day was to promise him that whenever our child was old enough to go into it, we'd come and buy it... I promised...  and he was ok with that after he made me say it at least 10 times!

Well, Neal was killed before we knew we were having a girl.... and I made him a promise.  It is in fact, I think the last promise I made to him before he was killed.  So, she has her very own fire truck now and it even has a red light!!  Which is kind of neat...  I know it's not typical little girl stuff... but, she's not a typical little girl!  She's the daughter of a firefighter!  I think I could have talked him out of it if he was still alive, after all, she's a pretty little princess! -- But, since he's not, I had to fulfill my promise to her father!  :-)

She did really well in it the couple nights she slept in it.  She left for the beach just a few days after I put it up.  The first night, she either fell out of it or woke herself up and got out of it at about 430am.  The four nights after that, she slept through the night.  Can't wait for her to get back home at the end of the month and see how she like's it now.  (She's been sleeping in her playard again!!)

Anyway, here are some pictures of Ashleigh and her big girl bed.  :-)  I am in the process of redecorating her bedroom now with all of the new fire and EMS stuff.... I'll put some pictures here whenever I get around to finishing it!
