Ashleigh has been doing absolutely wonderful lately.  It's been almost a month since the decision was made to wait on her surgery and so far, so good.  They decided to take a non-invasive approach and removed the NG tube on the 15th of April.  So far, she continues to do just fine!  She's still drinking Pediasure, so she's getting calories and nutrients... fortunately, she loves the taste!  Unfortunately, the stuff is really expensive!  It's about $42/case and she goes through a little over a case a week!!

She weighs almost 28 pounds now.  She's had a weight gain of a little over 11 pounds since she went into the hospital in mid-December.  We're definitely not complaining about that.  It's funny to think back though... her 12 month size clothes were too big for her when she went in the hospital and now she's in 24 months and 2Ts!  She pretty much bypassed 18 month sizes all together.  Amazing how quickly things can change.

She's talking up a storm these days too.  She is making compound sentences more and more.  She's even learned a few things in sign language... and Spanish!  Ashleigh can't say "water," so I taught her how to say "agua"... It's pretty cool.  Sometimes when she says agua, she sounds like Gizmo in the Gremlins movie from years ago.  VERY CUTE indeed!

She graduated to a big girl bed!  (well, it may actually be considered a boy's bed! ... but not when you're the kid of a fireman!)  There is a story behind the bed and some pictures of Ashleigh with her bed posted on Ashleigh's Big Girl Bed page.

She's been down at Nana's house in the Outer Banks (OBX) for the past 10 days and will be down there for another 17 at this point.  I went and spent 4 days with her over this past weekend and will be heading down again for a shorter long weekend this weekend.  She'll be home for about 10 days and then will be heading back down to the OBX.

We worked it out so she'll end up spending the majority of the summer down with Nana and Pop Pop and I'll just make trips down to see her every 10 days or so.  If all continues to go well, she'll be going back to daycare at the end of August.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.

That's really it for now... Here are some recent pictures of Ashleigh doing her thing!

Ashleigh dragged her little beach chair from one side of the house to the other so she could put it in Nana and Pop Pop's shower!

Ashleigh looking fat and innocent!

Ashleigh with her new tricycle.  This thing is the bomb!!  It is Pooh, clearly... but, it plays music, blows bubbles, and even talks!
This was one of the best days of my life!!  She was just so excited!!
She's figured out she needs to put her feet on the pedals to move, but more often than not, she's moving Flintstone-style!

Ashleigh all dressed up for Mother's Day Brunch
and definitely not liking her new sandals!!

I was trying to get Ash to look at me and she was watching the Teletubbies.  She turned around and shushed me!!

Is this the starting stance of Cheerleaders?  "Ready, OK"

Remember the Break Dancing craze in the 80's??

"Look Nana - I found a bug!!"

"ooh yucky ... it sqwushes"

Ashleigh on May 14th, 2003.  This is her bathing suit from last year that Nana poured her into today...
Too adorable not to put up here!  She looks like a hoochie mama!
