March 2002

I've been a little slow to update this page with everything else going on this month and for that I apologize.  Fortunately, Ashleigh is too young to understand what's going on with her Mommy and why this month really isn't the best there is.

On the upside, Ashleigh has been doing GREAT!!   She's not sitting up all by herself for well over a minute most times, and a lot of the time, for a lot longer!!  But, then she sees her toes and gets distracted and looses her balance!

She has gotten herself to the crawling position repeatedly now and when she gets there, she just rocks back and forth.  She hasn't figured out how to make her arms and legs work together for actually moving somewhere... but she's loving the fact that she can rock!!

She's starting to pull herself up.  Whenever my mom or I are holding her hands (and she's sitting), she'll pull up to standing.  She's also doing it when I sit her in her little activity play thing.  (I'm really not sure what you'd call it.  It's kind of like a kiddie jail if you ask me.  It has 6 panels and when it is put together, there are activity panels next to panels that look like jail bars.   She uses the jail bars to try to pull herself up, but she hasn't succeeded yet.

My mom had on my Pooh slippers the other night and my step-dad was holding Ashleigh's hands and she was standing on the carpet.  She saw Pooh on my slippers and actually alternated her legs trying to move and get them!!

I'm just so amazed at this little girl and her incredible will to do things.  She sat down on my lap the other day so I could eat dinner.  I had green beans on my plate and she did a full open-fisted dive for my plate.  Once she got a hold of them, she wasn't really sure if she liked the way they felt in her hand!!  But, I was done with them, so I was the "fun" mommy and let her keep playing with them.... and would even try to keep her from them and she had this look of determination on her face and was using every ounce of her strength to fight me to get to them!

Now for the length and weight update...  when we weighed her a few days ago, she was just a few ounces short of 15lbs!!   Needless to say, this means she's tripled her low of 4.12!!  I think we mis-measured her last month, because she's now about 25.5 inches.

We just recently taught her how to stretch.  Actually, I must give the Nana credit for that.  Everytime Ashleigh stretches, Mom says "Stretch Ashleigh!!"  Now we can actually say "stretch" and she does it!  We get official weight and length measurements on April 5th, when Ashleigh goes in for her 6 month check-up and immunizations appointment.

Oh... we've also moved on to some of the Stage 2 foods.  Pretty much the same things she had in Stage 1, but with a little more texture and some additional variety included.  Still haven't had any allergic reactions!!

Ashleigh officially pulled herself up today!!  -- All by herself too!!   She was sitting in front of her Pooh Discovery Center (that Aunt Tracy bought her) and the first time she tried, she fell backwards and the Discovery Center landed on top of her -- it was soooo sad!!  The second time, she stood right up and held on for about a minute before she got this look on her face that was saying "Oh Crap, now what do I do!!??"  I came to the rescue and sat her back down.  She did it later in the evening too ... so I don't think it was a fluke!!

Oh, and as you can see from the
Easter pictures that we took, she can sit up now all by herself.  She doesn't fall very often at all!  It's just amazing how much can change it 1 week!!!

Anyway, will update again in a few weeks... Hope you all stay safe in the meantime.

           God Bless!
