Neal's Funeral....

This alone; I ask of you
that you act justly, love tenderly,
and walk humbly with God
Micah Chapter 6 Verse 1
(from Funeral Program)
Neal is buried at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia.  He is about 2 miles from my office... and I get to go by and visit him several times a day.  At least once a day, I go and stand by him...Like I will do forever.
And soon but sadly, I'll get to take his little girl to visit him occasionally too.

He is in the corner area adjacent to Lee Highway (Route 29) and Hollywood Road,
so he can be close to the fire trucks and ambulances that pass him every day.

I'd like to thank my sister-in-law, Heather; my mother-in-law, Rose;
and All-American Ambulance (based in MD) for the pictures of the service that I've put here.
A SMALL sampling of the apparatus
driven by the men and women who came
to pay their respects to Neal....
The apparatus double-lined the road
inside the cemetery from anywhere near
(and even far) from where Neal was laid
to rest....

And a special mention and thanks goes out to Aquia Harbor Rescue Squad,
Unit 9-3, who led the procession
carrying Neal to his final resting place.
Neal's Mass of Christian Burial was at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria.  I must
say I know if he could have been smiling, my
husband would have been that day, at the well
over 5 miles of cars and apparatus that closed
Interstates 95 and 495 and Route 29.
It took over 3 dozen Alexandria Police and Traffic Enforcement Officers, Fairfax
County Motorcycle Officers, and Virginia State Troopers to get us to our destination without interruption....and we did so with a Fairfax County Police Helicopter escorting from above.
As Neal's eight pallbearers carried
him to his final resting place, a sea
of well over 200 EMTs,
Paramedics, Firefighters, and
Police Officers saluted the casket
as they formed an honor guard
line...

Most prominently shown here, are
Neal's brothers and sisters from
Aquia Harbor Rescue Squad.
At the end of a very emotional day,
I left my husband and father of our
unborn child, a half dozen people
left their son or grandson, another
half dozen left their brother,
countless others left a relative, and
hundreds and hundreds of people
left their friend....

to rest for eternity,
a very loved, honored, and
respected man.
Neal's marker....

Complete with flowers for the
4th of July and toys
that he so very much loved
to play with....
right up to the day he died....

One day....I will be placed in the crypt above him and my name will appear below his....
and we will spend our eternity together...
just as we had planned
